Instructors’ Perceptions of Intelligent Tutoring Systems and Their Implications for Studying Computer Programming in Omani Higher Education Institutions

It is a serious problem that universities worldwide, especially in the middle east, have high rate of failure programming courses. To overcome this issue which could probably be due to students’ lack engagement, motivation and problem-solving skills, Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) can an effective tool for enhancing student learning. Despite its effectiveness, no prior research has been conducted on impact using ITS higher education institutions Oman. This study therefore investigates perceptions Omani University instructors determine levels awareness, readiness challenges among concerning their integration ITS. Also, investigate reasons poor achievement students We adopted two approaches study. First, quantitative was via 5-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed 59 from different institutions. Second, interviewing 10 instructors. Our data reveal most participants are aware ITS’ effectiveness learning process. They believe Oman’s ready adopt if sufficient training support provided. Via text mining, our interview illustrates behind performance courses includes English language barriers, deficient critical thinking, skills inadequate modes teaching. clarifies situation educational term redness they may face adopting
